As a resilient woman, it can be really challenging to take on a BIG project, like starting your own business, because of your fear of failing, the financial struggles and the time you know you need to invest in it that you just don’t have.

BUT, what if the reality was that you could defy what you currently think is impossible and not just build a successful business but transform your life while you’re doing it!

It is possible!  I know because I’ve done it myself.

I’ve totally been in survival mode where that light at the end of the tunnel (that every positive thinking guru insisted was there) was so freaking dark that I had no idea where the end of the tunnel was….or how long it would be till I saw it!

It took me a really long time to believe in myself and that I could build a thriving business.

I had so many conversations swirling in my head about how hard it would be or how much money I needed to get it started when I had absolutely zero money to pay my mandatory bills let alone build a business.

I had lots of priorities in my life….but I wasn’t one of them.  I couldn’t afford to make me a priority because that would be selfish and un-motherly.

It took a strong woman mentor to show me the way.

In my early thirties, I met an amazing woman mentor that believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.  She helped me to see what was possible and gave me solutions to some of the obstacles that had become my excuses over the years.

I realized that I had believed the many myths about starting my own business.  You’ve probably told some of them to yourself many times over as you’ve contemplated what you want to do.

But, I’m going to dispel three of these myths right here and right now so that you can get rid of these excuses and justifications as to why you haven’t got started yet.

The 3 biggest myths about starting your own business

  1. You’ll struggle.

The only reason you’ll ever struggle as a business owner is if you don’t do inner work around your fears.

Women often struggle when starting out because they’ve been told that the responsible ways to make money is to have a stable job or marry a man as a plan.  Let’s be clear, neither one of these options are your best options.

As long as you do the inner work your business will reflect your efforts and your potential will soar. Your success in business is a direct reflection of your inner well-being and your mindset.

Do the work and it will show up in your business in the way of results and opportunity.

  1. You need money to make money but don’t expect to make lots of it in a start-up business for quite a while.

What??! Who taught you this? Who said it takes years before you make any money in your business?

It’s just another false belief to buy into. And, because you buy into it, it becomes your reality.

Try thinking that the first few years will be EASY, and see what ideas and opportunities come to you. You’ll be amazed.

  1. You have to work 24/7 to be successful.

This is no rule that says you have to work, work, work, to be successful.

As long as you focus on what’s important, you can work way less than you would in a conventional work day.

When you’re working on the right things, in the right way and for the right reasons, it doesn’t have to consume every hour of every day.  It just doesn’t!

Does it take commitment? Sure. But if you pick something you love, that truly doesn’t matter.

When you are connected with what you’re doing and you see the benefits of why you’re doing it, it becomes easier to evolve into the warrior business woman that you always knew you could be.
